People who rely on state support often have few opportunities in the regular job market. This is where the Tosam Foundation comes in: It provides assisted work placements and apprenticeships at seven locations and supports beneficiaries with job integration.
Around 260 people are currently participating in this program. They perform a variety of roles, including landscape gardening, garden maintenance, sales and office work. In this way, they learn about a typical working day and become part of a community.
To provide an example, Tosam runs a number of second-hand stores called “WinWin” in Herisau, Degersheim, Flawil and Gossau. The stores sell reusable goods in line with the principles of the circular economy. Specialized Tosam teams also carry out house clearances. They also dispose of items that can no longer be used.
At the Caritas “WinVita” store in Herisau, people receiving social welfare can buy affordable fresh and everyday items. These include fruit and vegetables, baked goods and dairy products, as well as personal care and hygiene items. Twice a week, it receives donation of groceries from the Schweizer Tafel food bank.
The landscape gardening operations in Herisau and Appenzell look after private and public gardens. Whether the task at hand involves weeding, mowing or pruning shrubs and trees, the two Tosam facilities will get it done. They also take on extensive landscaping projects.
Tosam relies on donations to continue this valuable and important work. And that is why we have chosen to support the foundation with a financial donation.
